Burgers are all time favourite fast food. First we indulge in them and regret later perhaps, but why not reduce this guilt and make a healthier and yummier burger at home.

How about a Burger enriched with Chickpeas, Sweet Potatoes, Flax, Chia and Sesame Seeds and many more healthy ingredients for an option! It's not just healthier but also a Power Packed. :)

Check out the simple recipe of Chickpea and Sweet Potatoes Burger below. Here, I have added sliced Tomatoes, Onions and Cucumber slices for toppings but you can also add Lettuce or Cabbage or any salad leaves and a slice of Cheese is always a good addition...isn't it?? ;)





Chickpea and Sweet Potatoes Burger

Recipe Cuisine: World | Makes: 3-4 Large Burger Patties

Ingredients:


For the Patties
  • Boiled Chickpeas । उबले हुए छोले - 1.5 cups
  • Sweet Potatoes । शकरकंदी - 3/4 cup tightly packed boiled and mashed
  • Spring Onions । हरी प्याज - 2 finely chopped (both White & Green Part) - approx 1/2 cup
  • Garlic । लहसुन - 4 pods finely chopped
  • Ginger । अदरक - 1/2 inch finely chopped
  • Flax Eggs* । अलसी के बीज
  • Sesame Seeds । तिल दाने - 1 tbsp
  • Chia Seeds । चिया दाने - 1 tsp
  • Cornflakes । कॉर्नफ्लैक्स - 1/4 cup (grind to make powder) or Bread Crumbs
  • Chilli Powder । लाल मिर्च पाउडर - 3/4 tsp - ( can be reduced as per taste)
  • Black Pepper powder । काली मिर्च पाउडर - 1/4 tsp
  • Cumin Seed Powder । जीरा पाउडर - 1/2 tsp
  • Garam Masala । गरम मसाला - 1/2 tsp
  • Lemon Juice । नींबू का रस - 1 tsp
  • Salt । नमक - to taste
Others
  • Burger Buns । बर्गर बन -3-4
  • Tomatoes । टमाटर - 1 large
  • Cucumber । खीरा - 1 medium
  • Onions । प्याज़ - 1 larger
  • Mustard Sauce । मस्टर्ड सॉस - 2 tbsp
  • Mayo । मेयोनेज़ - 5 tbsp
  • Oil । तेल - 3-4 tbsp
Note* To make Flax Eggs, take 1.5 tbsp of Flax seeds powder and dissolve in 4 tbsp of water and let it rest for 5-7 minutes.


Procedure:

For Burger Patties:
  1. Take Chickpeas in a bowl and roughly mash them with the help of a potato masher or with hands. Add rest of the Ingredients mentioned under the Patties section and mix well. Taste the mixture and adjust the seasoning accordingly. Keep the mixture in fridge for 15-20 minutes.
  2. Meanwhile slice the Tomatoes, Onions and Cucumber.
  3. To make the Mustard Mayo, mix both Mayonnaise and Mustard Sauce in a bowl.
  4. Take out the Patty mixture out of the fridge and make 4 big size patty or according to the size of the Burger Buns.
  5. Heat oil in a Non-Stick pan. Once the oil is hot, reduce the flame and place the patties in the pan and cook for 5-7 minutes on each side on low flame or till become crispy.
  6. Slice the Burger Buns into half and toast them in the same pan till become lightly crispy and golden brown.
  7. Spread Mayonnaise dressing on the inner side of the Buns, place the Patty, top it with sliced Cucumbers, Onions and Tomatoes and place the other half of the Bun. Prepare all the Burgers in the same way.
  8. Serve Immediately.
